*hyperventilating at the mention of kiwi burgers and beetroot*

jj how could you do this to me...I am drooling now. You know about my beetroot fetish dont you?

I tried to find out about the sweet thing. My husband thinks Im being stupid when I ask him...but then he eats lots of Thai (his heritage) as well as American.

Even Red Robin Burgers which are amazing are not like gourmet burgers in Godzone. Burger fuel makes the most amazing!! burgers...

Why we eat deserts, biscuits, cornbread, and of such with main meals?Hummmmmm. Because we call that just regular bread where I came from and to have sliced bread like for a sandwich was to expensive so we had biscuits. We ate biscuits and Gravy instead of toast or we had the biscuits by themselves. I Love biscuits & sausage gravy. Cornbread is served with a lot of soups instead of the crackers. I never noticed how sweet the bread is over her till you mentioned it. Yes the hamburger buns are sweeter. I Love a big hamburger with all the trimmings though. What kind of bread do you have there? A lot of people eat deserts first because they say they eat to much and don't have room for desert or will have it at the same time. To me a scone is a filled roll with cream in it. That would be a bakery product.

Yep that is what a scone is for us too. But its softer I think. Like a plumper moister biscuit (Amercian biscuit) Forgiven do you know that we call Cookies biscuits..?

Is that why Mimi's Cafe serve sweet muffins with their salads?
They have nice food but the serving of muffins in a basket with the meal is something Im not used to ..

no, I never knew you considered biscuits a cookie. We also do get rolls with our salads or in some cases biscuits. What do you call a cookie then? This is most interesting. Do you have sliced bread in NZ and if so what kind is it. I Love the sweet rolls with my salads better than crackers. We go to Lancaster ever now and then to coscos and get those big rolls and bakery products. I know more pounds but oh well. Ya only live once so may as well make the best of it.

forgiven.. no, a biscuit is not a cookie...we call our cookies, biscuits.
A hard, flat, sweet, baked batter is called a biscuit, here in the USA you call it a cookie. The flour and water mixture baked and served as a bread here is called a biscuit. We call a flour/water/butter and various other ingredients (baking powder, sweetener, fruit or savoury additives) baked batter which is light and soft inside is called a scone (pronounced SKONN.) I note that a scone here is like a rockcake..hard inside but not as hard as a cookie (this is confusing) and its pronounced SKONE.
We actually dont have anything which is like an American biscuit as our scones are always freshly baked and light. Biscuits are much drier and denser. Thus: a hard flat sweet and crisp substance which contains chocolate chips would be a Chocolate Chip Cookie in the USA but a Chocolate Chip Biscuit (or bikkie) in NZ/Aust/UK

phew!!!!

It's supposed to be good for your liver. Swiss guests often made grated fresh beetroot salads.

Tried our brownies? They're biscuits too and not like yours, which we call squares

So is that the same for Subway filled bread rolls which you call sandwiches? :?:

Beetroot on a burger? I don't think I've ever encountered that here in Australia. The traditional Aussie fish & chip shop burger has a proper substantial bun, and upon the bun goes :

lettuce
tomato
the beef pattie
slice of cheese
a fried egg
bacon
fried onion
tomato sauce

That's a burger with the lot, and it's just not the same if anything is left off. In the great fish and chip shop tradition, the fried onion should be a bit burnt, and it can even be quite black here and there. The yolk of the egg has to be broken when the egg is cooking so it doesn't just sit there in a tight little yolk. Good fish and chippies pay attention to these little details.

Oh, and last but not least, you have to remove the tomato, because it will almost certainly not be ripe enough. I don't know why they never have ripe tomato. :?

And burgers are 'sandwiches'. If you order a burger, they will ask if you want a meal or just the sandwich. Anything slammed between two slices of something - bun, bread or whatever is a sandwich.
Now I am returning home SOONER it wll be crazy getting used to kiwitalk again. But I shall manage, somehow
