Nikita I have a fab recipe somewhere, will dig it out if I've time.

I make a cocktail salad dressing that way Maryanne only I add a touch of garlic and black pepper and wedges of lemon too. It's great mixed with Tuna fish for a tuna mayo sandwich. It's the best one on the market I think.

Best Foods is the one my family all like too. It seems to be the most popular bought mayo among us all , I use it on rolls and sandwiches mostly because personally on salad, I prefer a little balsamic dressing. But Best Foods Mayo make a good base for Tartare or Seafood sauces too. Gosh imagine what it would be like if we still had to make all these things from scratch as our mothers and grans used to do. No wonder they spent most of their time standing over a hot stove stirring!.

Ah so she is a culinary visionary not a fussy toad of an eater then! hehehe. Nikita, have you tried Best Foods? It is totally unlike the Eta and other common brands of mayonnaie, doesn't have that strong, artificial flavour that I cannot overlook in the other brands. It's dearer but if you like dressing on or with salad, you could decant some and mix it iwth water, milk or vinegar or something to thin it to a pourable consistency and it would go a long way

Mayonnaise versus salad dressings?...Well all those whitish creamy ones to me are all called mayonnaise, and those that are clear and lighter as French with the lemon and oils etc., dressings..that is what me 'ead space is in .. anyhow..

Ahem. All the wet stuff we put on salads is salad dressing. Mayonnaise is a particular type of salad dressing. There are other types, usually called salad dressing for want of a particular sub title of their own.
Here endeth the lesson (can't have someone else being called a pedant instead of me! LOL!)

I'll try your recipe first Katy and then i might try the condensed milk one - it must be pretty sweet thou??
I'll def try and find the Best Foods brand, i'm only making it cause i can't seem to buy a decent one.
and yes, its that sharpish artificial taste of most bought ones i can't stand!

How it go Nikita? No the balance of condensed milk and dark malt vinegar is fine. Sweeter than others of course! Let us know OK?
