Recipe books.. 3 Years, 4 Months ago
I came accross a new Publication in the Supermarket today called Recipies..a pretty basic name but what's in a name?
it's the first edition and $2 for this first editon, normally $3 which is far better than wasting $7 on the Australian WW and other mags to get new recipies.
This mag has about 397 recipies and tips which are great for everyday food that is simple to prepare.

I love cook books but the cost put me off ages ago from getting new ones, so this mag will replace them. From what I can see it is published monthly..in Oz but for Nzder's. Not that many ads either

I'm a fan of cheesecakes and there's some in there that look so good, from the simple chilled ones to the sinful baked ones ( which I prefer), also looking for some different easy to makes slices etc for a daughter's 25th wedding anniversary party next Saturday... they have got everything I want to try, so it's a baking day coming up next Thursday!

Grab it if you see it... it's worth it!

I'll have a look today Pusslil,.I am a recipe book maniac!!!

I cut out girlie magazines years ago, Cleo, Next,...you name it.

I wish I still had a dollar for all the books I've bought!

These days, I buy Essentially Food monthly from New World.

Apart from travel & other stories, the recipes are very nice.

My only luxury.

I have a recipe book library. My name is Mizbiz and I am a recipe-a-holic
The best recipe book I have ever had is Google. There are some fabulous recipe websites on line....just type your recipe name into google and enjoy. You can then either write out the recipe or print it out and compile your own book. I write it out, try it out and if it is keepworthy... I then print it out and add it too my ring binder book into plastic sleeves.

Absolutely Mizbiz, had to giggle at the intro there, are you following the 12 step program? Hehe! I also find You Tube good for recipes too as you can follow a demonstration on how to make the recipe and it doesn't take that long to watch. There are some amazing sites out there. One of the ones I use too for simple ideas that is an NZ based site so you know you can get the ingredients is The food in a minute site, if anyone is interested, and you've not seen the site before here is the URL: www.foodinaminute.co.nz
By the way I've just had a peek at the site, and if you're a whizz in the kitchen they are looking for a new TV cook and presenter to take over from the present one, so go have a look at the site and become a star....of course you can mention me as your mentor if you get it

I have dozens of recipe books - rarely ever cook from a recipe - but, oh, the inspiration I get from them. I haven't spent much money though $2 a book from our local recycling centre, books that would normally cost around $40 a pop to buy new. But - I still go back to my old trusty Edmonds recipe book.

Gawd..sounds like we are all recipe book -a-holics! Hehe... every picture tells a story they say.
I often joke that I have gained weight over the years, just from reading recipe books and experimenting. I hate to think how many books I do have. I used to love trying new recipes all the time when I had family home to eat and appreciate them. The enthusiasm goes though when you live alone, although, I do still make an effort to eat healthily, I am more interested in finding recipes that I can adapt and cook for one these days. Which is why I went off on a cooking spree after Moe posted who Mug Pudding the other week. I "Puddinged" myself out for a week trying all different versions possible of that concept. Just as well I have no summer shorts. For sure, I would not be able to squeeze myself into them after the efforts of that week!.
Pusslil is right though, that $2 magazine is good value. My friend and I bought one each when we saw it the other day as well. The $2 is an introductory offer though.. I expect that once we are all hooked on it, the price will go up. Like Lucky7 , I enjoy the Essentially Food Magazine and used to have to go out of my way to a New World to get it . However, I noticed recently that it is now available from Foodtown,Countdown and Woollies. I do not know if New World is going to continue to have Essentially food too, for I believe that New World now has a new magazine... in fact, I heard that Allison Gofton is the Editor of it, so that could explain the vacancy that you spoke of Sandy, on Food in a Minute. . Another site which I like if anyone is interested is www.foodlovers.co.nz. We are all food lovers aren't we?

Well, I bit the bullet this morning, & bought Recipe Plus.

A really nice Oz mag, now available for us.

I may consider getting that, & dropping Essentially Food.

$2 cheaper too.
