Re: Cherries 1 Year, 3 Months ago

I have a funny feeling that was going to be another spam for some seafood restaurant. Those of us who suffer from gout, will not want to know about that, and it was probably in Timbuctoo, or some place we need a boat or a plane to get to anyway ! So, am changing the subject to talk about another kind of food. I have been eating a small handful of cherries daily while they have been in season. Expensive I know, but, I was told that they are very good for some forms of arthritis and including gout, I thought I would trial it out. I have been better. Of course, I wonder if I might have been better with the warmer weather anyway.. or, am just on an up that I would have been without the cherries. When you are up and down, it is a bit hard to know for sure, but just wondered if anyone else has heard of this, or has tried it?

I heard that cherries and strawberries have a natural anti-inflammatory action on the body and yes, I have been feeling better since the seasons started but, like you, I wonder if this has as much to do with the warmer, drier weather than what I've been eating. Who knows? Just enjoy the difference (and the fruit for its own sake).

Just seen this thread again, and I have moved on from eating fresh cherries to eating the bottled Delmonte cherries . Keep a jar in the fridge, and eat 5 a day , usually at breakfast time. I do believe that they have helped to control my arthritic syptoms quite a lot.
Besides , they are nice to take as well !
