Breast cancer prevention procedures 6 Years ago
Hello,
I havent had time to come and say hello properly since R.W. had had a "makeover" but before I ask anything Greetings to all of the R.W. flowers from the greener side of the Tasman and my mates here in Oz & not forgrtting our brits and American flowers as well(and anyone else I have forgotten!).
I was hoping someone might be able to point me to the right path in finding forums, sites ,e.t.c. with information on preventitive procedures for breast cancer.
I have had 2 procedures in the last 5 years to remove Fibroydanomas(I know I havent spelt that correctly! :? )and they have come back each time with more and more of these things.
This time they have advised me with the close family history that I have ,I should be removing my breast ,as the fibroydy things are sooo many and soo thick that they can not see anything with a mammogramm or ultrsound & they are so hard they can not get a needle biopsy .
I have great surpprt frommy husband and friends in making the decision to go ahead with this ,but there is never too much infromation ,so if anyone can guide me with some more info let me know .
Thanks .
****Love your enermies ****,
 it will drive them crazy!!!

Can't help with websites, Margee40, but what about phoning the Cancer Society to see if you can talk to someone who has had this done. It must be a very tough decision to make. Thinking of you.

Hi Margee 40
I've had that surgery done on both of my breast but they never removed them. Cancer runs very high in my family as well. They took 5 pounds out of each one as I had lumps as you do. There was so many they couldn't see behind the top ones. The surgery is quite painless but you MUST be oh so careful when you go home. I was in the hospital two days and they sent me home and told me my dos and don'ts and I thought I knew more and ended up the left broke open and the problems started. They had to go and redo it which took longer to heal but over all I don't regret it. I never have had any problems since or like that. I have a couple lumps but they are nothing to worry about but the Dr keeps me going for my check ups as usual. He says I never know. The very first time I went they had made all the markings on me and told me all that was going to happen and at the last I said oh no I can't do it then and got up and went home. So my Dr told me I needed to get it done or else. So about a month later I went back and went through the whole ordeal again.and yes I stayed for them to finish it. I went home much much smaller than I was and like I said no regrets except my own fault. Good Luck in your decission and what ever you decide be happy with it. If you need any more questions answered, just ask me. I fully trust these Ladies on here with my personal infomation.

Margee 40 you probably won't believe this but several years ago I ran to the emerency room because my breasts were covered with big sores. Of course being me it had to be cancer. The doctor came in and took a look and told me I didn't have cancer, He suggested I go home and put hot tea bags on the bumps, Stupidist thing I ever heard of. but it worked something about the talon in the tea draws the liquid part up. Well I did then squeeezed them like pimples ( one had a 1/4 cup of whatever it was in it) I have occasional outbreaks now. not nearly as bad as the first one
Hope this helps,
