Nodding head in agreement with you PP and Sue, there was quite a long thread about Sureslim, a while back, but I couldn't find it now after a quick scroll through.. It does seem more difficult to pick up old threads because the " search" facility does not seem to working properly yet. I guess it will happen in time. I was trying to find another old thread myself a few nights ago, and still haven't and yet I know there was one somewhere! Frustrating , isn't it ? Anyway, I see we have now got the PM system functioning again now .. so Lee is getting there.Meantime, if I remember rightly, there was quite a bit of negative info regarding Sureslim from some of the members who had tried it. I have never considered using it myself. I know it was very expensive, and some were trying to get their money back so, go into it thoroughly Sue before you sign up, I think would be good advice. Now, I am one of those people who joined a gym and who goes along and chit chats and laughs with the other ladies there. I am also one who counts her pulse rate when advised by the trained experts to check it and makes sure that I don't go over the recommended chart rate for my age. I tend to take more notice of qualified experts, than I do of those who are just plain KA's . The prime reason I joined was to try and regain my fitness after a spell of inactivity due to being unwell. While not overly energetic or sweat -breaking I consider that the regime has been instrumental in my regaining a good level of fitness in spite of my arthritic joints and being overweight . You are right Sue when you state, overweight people can be fit and healthy at the same time. As for diets.. I am on a Gin and tonic one myself, and all I have lost so far, is two whole days !.

Well one of my best friends has been going to SS and has lost a ton of weight, I am amazed as apart from the people on the ads, she is the only success story I've heard about. She looks great and says it is really easy to stick to. Good on her say I. My only concern is that same friend has lost weght like this before on Atkins and put it all back on again and so it will be interesting to see if their maintenance programme is any good.
Gyms and socialising, well I will say the odd thing to the person beside me but honestly I prefer to zone out as I'm usually pooped anyway and I'm not good at small talk! Interesting to note for myself however how much I infer about people from how they dress, and in the gym everyone wears godawful t shirts and leggings and things so we don't really know much about one another. It bugs me that this bugs me! But I can say that they are all grat women who are just there getting on with taking time out for themselves and that is really cool.

Have gradually built up my own gym (due to the tyranny of distance) and find it difficult to get motivated unless I have someone with me. Recently a personal trainer had come into my circle and we workout together sometimes. She said that she felt it was easier to get the exercise regime locked in before trying to change the eating habits so that is what I am working on.

I joined SureSlim a few years ago - what a disaster. after a week my doctor told me to stop doing it as I had really bad headaches etc. He told that it was unrealistic to keep the weight off long term using that plan. The main problem for me was the 5 hours between meals and only being able to eat certain foods. With my job I can never guarantee that I will get lunch at the correct time etc. I was really disappointed with my meal plan as when I compared it to others it was the same. Getting my money back took about 2 months and then I only got half of it back.
I would recommend a personal trainer (not necessarily at the gym) or log and tell us every day what you've been doing. We'll motivate you.

For Sue: I found one Sureslim thread last posted in Mar07. But that was about people trying to get refunds. Anyway, I have bumped it up for you - but not sure if I bumped it into General or Health!

I'm guessing you have thought about (and decided against) Weightwatchers. That still relies on great determination ( and a lock on the fridge). I don't htink any answer is easy.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi ya Sue,

Amazing that you come up with this subject as after I got back off my trip I think I gained 25 pounds plus my sister told me I was to heavy....I know sweet of her ..... cause I told her she was right behind me.I decided it was time for me to do something.

I don't know anything about sure slim as I've never tried it but I'm cutting out ALL the pastries, cakes, candy, and all that really good fatty stuff and turnig to more veggies, fruit, and water......A small amount of meat, no breads, lots of cereal with fiber, and I want to start walking ever other day providing the weathers not to hot. I can't stand the heat. I figure with this I should be able to loose the 25 I gained. I don't have a gym close by go to and probably wouldn't as I think I would be too shy to go to one like I am now. So I'm going to try this for three months or however long it takes to loose it.

Good luick to you on your run.

Forgiven, why don't you and I walk towards each other and meet in the middle. I bet we could lose 25lbs several times over in the heat.

I hate the heat as I always feel bloated and full of fluid. I live on fruit and veges and water and still additional pieces of body emerge at every angle. The pants that did up yesterday surely won't do up today!!

Am considering trying Alli - the new over the counter medication. You actually have to agree to follow their plan in every way, eating, exercise as well as taking the pills. Am researching as we speak!! Its not speed...like Phentermine or any of those horrible amphetamine based quick fixes...its a long term, controlled medication.
