Reductil 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi People, I've just started taking reductil. I'm 175cm tall, 32yrs old and I've been 115kg for the past 8 years. I have 5 kids aged between 4 and 9 and my stress levels are fairly high as you could imagine, yet my blood pressure is perfect 170/20. I've been really unhappy with my weight for a long time and exercise and a healthy diet are just not working for me. My Dr prescrible Reductil to help me get the weight off and my main concern is when I come off it I'll go straight back to 115 as this seems to be my platau weight. Has anyone maintained the lower weight after stopping Reductil? I have to say I feel like I have more energy, like I'm buzzing all day and my appetite has dropped but I was expecting that. Also hubby is happy as our love life has done a 180 as I have the energy and inclination I didn't have before. So far these are the only side effects but I must admit they don't seem all to bad to me. My ideal weight for my height is ment to be 74kg but that seems a bit light to me so I'd be happy to get to 85-90. I'd love to hear anyones experiences, have a good day

It will be up to if you change your eating and exercise habits in the meantime or not. Taking a drug temporarily will only help temporarily so you are right to be concerned over what happens afterwards. Most ppl go up like balloon when they stop because they have not got the nowse to figure that out that it is their life style that has to change. So the Reductil has increased your sexual activity. That will burn off a few extra calories. You also whip through your housework with a more frenzied approach. After the medication is finished you will have to continue with the same levels of activity cleaning house too. Unless you change yr lifestyle you won't keep off the weight. Drugs are not the answer

wrong website for weight loss questions, Gals. I think you will find that you won't get a good reception here. That is if you live long enough - drugs like Reductil and Duromine are dangerous. Medsafe (NZ) is investigating reductil now due to heart problems reported. This was in the newspaper this morning: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/3128127/Medsafe-aware-of- weight-loss-drug-concerns Go figure Girls!

Yep... thanks AJ for providing that link. That was the same article on Reductil that I read yesterday on my home page, and which I mentioned on another thread. I did not realise that there had been double postings made by some of these people. As for that other evil drug which Lorretta30 claims was recently prescribed to her, well, I am amazed by that. And I was under the impression that this particular drug had already been banned in many countries including New Zealand - a few years ago in fact ? You say you are in Gisborne Loretta ? I am totally amazed that you have been able to get that particular drug prescribed to you by yr doctor. It is an extremely dangerous drug, and in years gone by, some of us ladies had really, really bad experiences on that one. It is almost pure amphetamine and causes permanent heart damage also. Some of us still have health problems as a result of taking it. If you have got 5 children each, you ladies, your children deserve much better consideration from you , than putting drugs such as these into yr systems. Believe us.

Re: Reductil 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi Loretta

I have used Duromine before about 6 years ago now and although it seems like it works wonders, trust me it doesn't last. I lost 20kgs in 2 months and after 3 months of use, the pills effects seems to diminish. I suffered insomnia and obviously my appetite was minimal and energy intensified but after 4-6 months that all stopped. So if your looking for a long term solution, pills don't work, as i have tried nearly all of them from Reductil, Xenical, Duromine, natural way products, slimmmm pills etc. etc. Personal choice though if you continue to use them, best of luck but as it has already been noted there can be major side effects. But i totally understand how your feeling weight wise. OH also when i took Duromine, the skin on my face broke out in a terrible rash due to lack of nutrients and fatigue, i had to see a dermatologist to have it treated...for me personally it wasn't a happy time even though i was 20kg lighter . Takecare and best wishes
