Re: Reductil 2 Years, 2 Months ago

Although i completely agree with you AJ that exercise is a key to weight loss however eating less is not always the solution. It is more about making the right food choices and also alot of psychological issues can also be underlining bad food choices and should be addressed. Every individual is different with what foods they should be eating and when, why and how, as obviously we all lead different lifestyles. For me personally, it has never been about me over eating,in fact i eat alot less than my super skinny friends, my problem has been about putting the wrong foods in my mouth. I am not a comfort eater but yet a very very bad sweet tooth and as long as i can remember i have always had dessert after dinner and these are bad habits that i have had since a young age and mentally these habits cannot be changed over night in addition any junk food i do eat just sticks to me, whereas my slim friends can eat the same and no weight gain, so possibly genes and metabolism has effects there too. I have had to change the way i look at food and i am trying to keep a eye on my Carbohydrates and Calorie intake which hasn't been easy, an example i just found out from my surgeon the other day that orange juice has more Calories in it than Coke!!! I love O.J and hate fizzy drinks, i drink plenty of water but i like a O.J every now and then but not any more, so im gutted but yaye at least i am now know about O.J. As for exercise being an above amputee (congenital) and very over weight, my exercise is limited. That's not an excuse mind you, i can still go swimming and love table tennis. I strongly advise working with a dietician and your GP and family to help with weight loss. Work out a plan that works for you and centred around your lifestyle.

You go Girl. It sounds like you are doing lots of good stuff. I have been making similar changes over the years and it's all good stuff, eh! I am not trying to set myself up as any sort of expert cos I'm not. I face all the same issues as everyone else on this site.I was just trying to simplify the solution for those who think drugs are going to do the trick, which they never do.

Hey, I'm not hoping Reductil will be the quick fix I can use instead of changing lifestyle choices. I lead a very active life, we live on a farm and I work very hard both inside and outside the home, I have also drastically changed my eating habits over the last few years in an effort to shift the weight, but it just wont move. I used to indulge a very sweet tooth daily, eat meals large enough for 2 and do it all wrong, lots of butter in mashed spuds, cheese with everything, lollies and chocolate galloor. I went to the Dr hoping for help and this was what she suggested I try as being overweight is effecting my self esteem, mobility and joint pain. So far I have not had any bad side effects from Reductil though I realise others have. I did alot of research before taking it and yes, my children do deserve for me to be the best I can be, and I hope that they see me trying my hardest to loose weight that I know they know I've felt bad about for along time. If they can have me for longer then I'm willing to try Reductil as my own efforts have prooved unsuccessful. Eating healthy foods, better portion size, regular exercise hasn't helped me and hopefully this will.

Have you thought of spending your money on enlisting the help of a dietician and a personal trainer rather than on drugs missyo? Not my business what you do, of course, but a suggestion that might help. I heard a lady on the radio a couple of days ago who was 140 kg and over the space of approx 2.5 years she dropped down to 56 kg. No drugs, just good healthy food and lots of exercise. I managed the first part of this process but have got stuck. I found her inspirational, as Ellieann is with her exercise.

You ask for help , in the form of advice, and when people give you the best possible advice they can ie.. DO NOT do drugs but instead, to eat smaller portions of healthy balanced diet and increase your daily exercise, your resonse is to say that you have tried it before, and it will not work for you. So ~ you are going to do the drugs anyway.
It is easier to pop a pill isn't it? All that other stuff about doing a bit of extra exercise over and above yr daily housework routine is just a bit to hard. I know. I have heard it all before. It is easier to grab a slice of bread and peanut buttter then it is to peel an apple. almost.
You sound just like my sister.Negative. Like her you will become crippled by your own negative attitude. My siser is another one who has ruined her general health by doing the Duramine thing, and many of the others drug and herbal so called diet remedies as well. She is younger than me, but how has heart issues, liver impairment, and diabetes. It is very , very upsetting for her loved ones to see and hear.
How long did you actually follow the healthy diet exercise regime ? About 2 weeks would be my guess. The trouble is you expect an instant , overnight fix, and lady, it will not happen no matter what. Think. How long did it take you to become obese ? Was that overnight ? No, of course it was not. It was over a period of time and it is going to take a considerable period of time to get rid of the fat also. If you want to get it off and keep it off, there is NO quick fix. Even the ones who go and have weight loss surgery often end up putting weight back on in time, when they are not prepared to give up the old bad habits of eating the wrong food while not exercising enough.
If you are not prepared to listen to ppl who know what they are talking about when they tell you not to do drugs, then why bother to come on the board and ask for advice?

Re: Reductil 2 Years, 1 Month ago
hello... did you even read either of my posts?? If you had then your little rant about being negative and lazy and going for the easy way out is totally coming from who knows where?? You obviously have some issues with your sister and are projecting them onto me and I don't think anything you said was ment for me as it's all totally nothing to do with anything I've written about.
You think I've only tried for a couple of weeks when I clearly state in my post that I have been eating small amounts of healthy food for years. Also the jab about doing the bit more over the ususal housework is irrelevant, I stated, if you bothered to read it, that I lead a Very active life, working on a farm as well as running the home. Do you have any idea how much effort and energy goes into working day after day on a dairy farm as well as trying to fit in the house work, running the kids around, being on the go from 6 to 10 EVERY day. I'm very active and I eat sensibly. But my weight was stuck at 115 and it wasn't moving! My visit to the Dr also lead to blood tests, throid tests, the works, before Reductil was recommended. I don't even know why I'm bothering to reply, your so a waste of time. I was asking for those who had experience with Reductil to share their experiences with me, I've also got some people telling me it's no good and some who it has worked for. I'm going to base my personal decision on my own personal experiences, as should everyone. I did the net surfing before and as I have had no negative side effects, I think it's great stuff. I lost weight over Xmas, first time in almost 10 years, 6 of which I was leading a healthy life style, I put it down to Reductil. Go dump your issues about your sister on your sister where they belong and not on me.

There's absolutely no need to be rude, missyo. I don't think anyone is pointing the finger, merely trying to give you the advice you asked for in the first place. So maybe if you can't be polite perhaps you shouldnt ask the question if you don't want to hear the replies. I know it's a tough journey, not to mention a frustrating one, so be kind to yourself and to others, eh!
