Is that what they do to them Delta? Well, I hate to have to say this, but there is a huge difference between the Australian tomatoes and the NZ grown ones, and it is not good!. Even our own commercially grown ones which cannot compare with home grown ones for flavour, have a completely different flavour than the imported Toms. I have always wondered why on earth they are so different from our for flavour. Perhaps that explains it. I don't think they spray them here to ripen them over night. I hope bloody not - we ingest enough chemicals as it is without them doing that . You just never know what you are taking in with your food do you ? I am not entirely convinced that washing stuff under a cold tap is enough to rid them of chemicals either. After all, a lot of it would have been absorbed into the fruit or the vegetable anyway. I wish we could go back to the good old days, where we knew we were eating pure goodness.
