Its nearing time to pack bags and since its been a while since I had the pleasure of shopping Kiwi style, I wonder if you would give me a bit of a headsup on what is or is not available. I cannot do without certain things to which Ive become accustomed as well as the price tag.

A Kiwi friend who visited here last year said she bought herself 20 of a particular item of makeup here before she returned to NZ as the price was so much higher in NZ... which makes sense.

Would someone mind giving me an idea please?

Good grief!!! That's a lot of rub on and rub in, girlfriend! hehee. Can't help you I'm afraid, I eschew most of these brands for Avon and Paula's Choice, because they are both reasonably priced excellent products.

PS Nice to hear you're in full on exit strategy!

Several girls I know buy their cosmetics from a website called Strawberrynet.com as it is a lot cheaper for those brands, even with the shipping. You should check it out and see if you will be able to get the things you want from there instead of having to cart it all back with you.

I am too much of a tomboy to be able to help you, Salliemae, but am also delighted to hear that D-Day is getting closer. I also have friends who swear by Strawberrynet.com and they are the genuine articles, not fakes. One friend has a credit card that she uses for just this site with a limit of $500 so if someone did happen to get the details of the account couldn't clean too much out of it.

What's a gel deodorant? If it is a roll on then Avon do a whole range of them for $2.99 for 100ml (the usual size is 50ml) and they are great. I've got to go out today so will print off and investigate for thee

Maryanne, gel deodorant is colourless gel in the oval/flattish container and you wind the bottom and the gel squishes and oooooozes out through the little holes at the top.

I did get some Avon deodorant from a girl at work. 99c each so I got ten of 'me but they give me the itchies. That could old age as well of course

Don't you just love that word 'ooze'? Its a very graphic word I think!

Bought some soft aged leather boots with straps at various intervals up the leg which comes to just under the knee. They have a stacked heel which is almost as tall as me and makes walking difficult...but hey!!! at $20 I had to have them

Have checked out the Strawberry Net site and it seems that one can source all sorts of goodies through that.

Cousin who visited last November tells me that she can buy Freeze 24/7 in local pharmacy and when converted to USD is approx same price!

At $11 for the Root touch up kit, that is a little bit more expensive but not much - depending on the exchange rate. Its great for NZ at the moment. However, so I can get more buck for my bang would be ever so grateful if the NZD would just scoot down just a bit
