Bringing out the colour 2 Years, 12 Months ago
Every winter when I look at what I have to wear, I notice that all of my clothes are either black, or grey Dark grey ususally, and for the past 2-3 years I have really tried hard to change that. I went in to a couple of shops recently and even just standing in the front of the store and surveying the scene I could see that almost everything in both of these places was dark . The few things in colours were only in small sizes. I really believe that a lot of the manufacturers or clothing buyers, must think that big people should not be noticed - therefore let's keep them dull !.
Mind you to be fair, perhaps it is our own fault, because, I know that so many of us 'feel' smaller in dark colours, and I myself have in the past , tended to dress more in black and navy, for that very reason. Have we brought this present situation upon ourselves, do you think ?
Now I have changed my thinking, and bright has become more beautiful , but I can't find it to fit !
About the best I can come up with is the addition of bright scarves, and bold custume jewellery and bags. It is OK.. it helps to relieve the monotony and make a little bright splash, but I would really like to see more coloured sweaters, jackets etc - that are not that fleece stuff !.
I am talking about good clothes here, not casual gear... good ,smart fashionable stuff in XXL up.

I agree about the colour and sometimes wearing something bright makes you feel bright and breezy. I recently bought a lovely red polar fleece jacket from Long Island. They do mail order KKK Katy and their stuff is lovely. The do a real good deal on specials too and I have bought a few things there only to find them offered in the $20 dept later on.

I couldn't agree more Katy. I too seem to think that retailers see winter as a time for darker clothes. I like a bit of colour on the dull days and just in general, it's nice to see some colour. I have too many black things and I have been trying to opt out of that but it's a hard habit to break. TS has opened a new store in Milford, and they do have some brighter colours, the prices I think are a bit steep but if you're looking for somethng special then maybe that would be an option. I'm up for a visit there if you are Katy, just email or let me know what you think..

Who is TS Sandy ? I don't think I have come across them before . Yes, I will certainly give you a call sometime soon , but well aware of how busy you are right now though. I like shopping with you I know you will be honest and tell me straight if they are trying to tell me I look gorgeous when I damn well don't ! Do you remember that very bright long knit jacket y thing I bought last year ? I think it was you who was with me. Well even though I was a little unsure because it was outrageously bright compared to my ususal things, when ever I wore it, people commented and said I looked nice. I started feeling really good whenever I put that on - usually over black pants but still, it did make a statement, and the only trouble is, now I think everyone will this year say, " Oh , there she again, still wearing that flame jacket of hers !" Actually I don't really care a hoot about that. Would just like a bright emerald green one, or a kingfisher blue one would be nice.
Yes, a bright cherry red one as well, as Annie has suggested. It is such a warming cheerful colour too. I am determined to try and get away from black , black. grey , and charcoal ......
Anyway, will give you bell Sandy, but probably not this coming week. Have got Daughter #2 and grandson #3 arriving tomorrow for a week so will probably have to go where they want to go, on my non working days. If we do end up over your way, will call you to see if you can steal away for a coffee break at least !

I remember that lovely jacket-y thing Katy, it was indeed I who was with you. It is a gorgeous colour and I've just bought a top in the similar colour too. I am easing off a bit now katy so whenever you're free just give me a bell, having said that I've got more clients but thats all good. Have fun with daughter #2 and family, give them a hug from me

Kate TS is that shop I showed you at the back end of the Rialto Centre in Newmarket. A new branch has opened in Milford.

I have struggled with this for years. You see I love black, I feel good in black so I wear it. I have a few clothes in brown but it is mainly black I wear. I really dont feel comfortable wearing bright clothes, but admire other people that wear them.Got some 3/4 jeans I like also. So im going to carry on wearing mostly black & feeling good & good on the ladies who are getting into colour.

Re: Bringing out the colour 2 Years, 12 Months ago
I had my colours done a few months ago, and it was a great investment. I am a 'cool dusky deep' (this is a different system to the seasons one) and all my favourite reds and purples are in my palate but also lots of blues and greens I don't generally look at. Black is in it too but I prefer to wear see through black up near my face instead of solid black as it is softer. What surprised me is that there are no really bright colours in it. I assumed I'd be a 'winter'. The clear, bright colours wore me instead of the other way around and I don't like the competition! LOL!
Anyway I am the same, my winter wardrobe is brighter than many, although it has plenty of black in it as well. I believe that the reason there is so much black in larger sizes is because that is what the market demands. I always notice in the sales racks in Zebranos and such places how much colour there is in sale, great for those of us who like it! I have a top on layby there that is donkey brown with an olive green screen print on it. Not very colourful but I'll weat hor pink or rhubarb red under it to lift it.
