At the moment I'm a BIG size, AND I like my clothes loose, so have to go up 2-3 sizes more, which make it even harder to find speciality clothing. Luckily I've found casual clothing on Trademe (brandnew and cheap from 2 "clothesmakers"/traders). BUT I'm after a really nice SUIT/DRESS/ EVENING OUTFIT in really large size. Anyone wanting to sell? Or anyone that can suggest where to go? Thanks! Jx

I was going to a wedding a couple of weeks ago Jilly 51 and traipsed all over looking for something I really loved but didn't find a thing. I am a size 22 / 24, and really didn't see anything any bigger than XXL . I n the finish I gave up and wore something I already had because I had even run out of time for getting something made.
If you have the time to do that, before you need your new garment, I would encourage you to look for a good dressmaker and get her to make what you really have in mind for your special occasion because there is certainly not much out there right now. I found it very disheartening looking and looking and getting nowhere . The other thing that bugged me was , that almost everything I was shown was black or charcoal , and I was yearning for colour. I think I wrote something about on this site at the time. Anyway, I was in a really nice shop today- thank you SandyK! TS had great, fashionable and smart garments which I loved, but XXL seemed to be largest they carry. I had a wee splurge there, couldn't resist it, even though my event has since passed. Never mind, I will be all post for the next one whenever that may be !

You're welcome Katy I had a great time today, just what I needed really, and I just love that Rhubarb and pineapple jam so tangy thank you. I must confess I too loved the stuff in TS as you say though it was a splurge and a bit on the expensive side I think but lovely clothes and I must confess I'm tempted to go back and find some more, had my eye on a black and mustard number......oh well will have to wait awhile. PS I told the Sheik of the purchases and he got his reward

It certainly i is a great softener Sandy !! They can't resist it, and one whiff and they go all limp like putty in our hands ! LoL.. Bet he has no idea yet what he paid for it though. And me thinks, you might have to soft soap the Sheik again when the credit card bill arrives !! Still... it pays to keep the peace don't it !

U huh! you girls may gather from this that Sandy I were just a litte bit naughty yesterday, only, as I said to her, I have got one big advantage over her in that I have no husband waiting to pounce out and ask me " What did you buy today dear ?" Followed always of course by that extra tricky question , " How much did it cost ?"
Let's just say that I for one will be staying out of shops for a little while though. what fun !

Jilly try www. holyclothing.com Their gear is a bit bohemian but the detailing, colours, cut and price are all amazing. When I was a size 36 I used to wear their stuff all the time and got lots of compliments. Unfortunately I've sold off all that gear, on trademe as it happens!

As for you two minxes in Auckland, I love TS as well, but I have to tell you, I got captured last night by a black and gold frock coat at TCD, and bought it on the spot even though I shouldn't have! It was under half the price of another midnight blue velvet one that brought tears to my eyes and the DTs to my credit card
