Shopping in Auckland 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Hi everyone!

I'm trying to make a list of all the plus size shops in Auckland (where you can find at least a size 20-22), and as I've been there for only 2 months, I would love to have your help but also your point of view on these shops!

Why such a list? Because I think it would be great to have a clear list of all the places where we can shop in Auckland, with a review for each of it: so much easier when you want to do some shopping!

Why Auckland? Well... it has to begin somewhere!

Thank you!!!

Sarah ^-^

Okay, here are the ones I know of, with my opinions.

Boutique-ish ~ for style

* Precious Vessels at Greenwoods Corner, Epsom ~ smart, casual, good range, combination of funky and classic
* The Carpenter's Daughter in Mt Albert Road, Epsom/Three Kings ~ funky ~ with seconds/sale shop across the road
* Extra Elegance further up Mt Albert Road heading towards the West ~ more for the older woman
* Platform Clothing in Dominion Road even further up, and just off, Mt Albert Road, another branch at Botany ~ good range of classic and funky
* TS in Newmarket and Milford ~ Australian brand, funky
* Kooky in various locations including Newmarket ~ more of a classic/corporate/special occasions range
* Magazine in Mt Eden Road (near Shackleton Road) and Takapuna ~ love it!!!
* Charismatique on East Coast Bays Road near Pupuke Golf Course ~ broad range of fairly classic/corporate styles
* Zebrano in Newmarket ~ good
* K&K in various locations ~ okay, good for basics
* City Chic in Newmarket and Manukau ~ for the younger woman! ~ mini skirts, jeans, casual, leather ...

Mass market ~ for basics

* Farmers ~ don't underestimate good old Farmers. Their basic range of Yourself and EllaJ are, erm basic, but good for wardrobe staples such as $30 black pants (who needs to pay a fortune for black pants?), but then there are more "designer" ranges such as Clarity, Table 8, Sirroco etc
* Ezibuy ~ Sara range, okay for basics
* Kmart ~ great for undies and swimsuits
* Postie ~ great for undies and lingerie and swimsuits

Um, I'm sure there are others but I cannot recall them.

Many of my real finds have come from TradeMe.

Also, when I have had loads of time I have trawled in the larger size section of SaveMart. It's the size of a rugby field and requires dedication and determination but can be a treasure trove. I once found a very styley black boiled wool 3/4 length coat by Jane Daniels for $29, a gorgeous vintage heavy oriental robe for $9 (it cost me $28 to add buttons and buttonholes but this is a stunning entertaining robe , a $12 satin bias cut skirt which I wore to a ball ....

Any questions, Sarah, I'm yer girl. In fact, let's do a shopping or look-see trip sometime soon. I'd love to meet you.

Great idea Sarah & Suse.

Suse you have already done a comprehensive list I see, but with both of you on the large size fashion hunt,...Auckland can only benefit from your research.

Have fun ladies, LOL.

Count all your blessings. the ones that cost you no money.

hey suse: wow, what a list! Thank you so much, this is great!

I'd also add
*T'da, 485 Manukau Road,Epsom ~ very classic and neutral

You know what, I love your idea of look-see trip, 'would be great to make a real review of all these shops, maybe take some pics if they agree so we could later share this on RealWomen and on my blog (well, beginning of blog, lol)! I don't work for the moment, so let me know when you'd like to do it, I'm on!

Cheers,

S.

==>hey girls, 'sure you also have other point of view or know other shops, don't hesitate to let us know!!!

I found the most amazing store in LynnMall, wedged between Farmers and K&K. It's called Mack Boutique. It's cheap, it's gorgeous, it made me sooooo happy... and my credit card soooooo maxed out lol.

Check out my store review on my blog. :3 http://nosizezero.wordpress.com/2011/11/15/store-review-mack-boutique/
