I had a green swing back coat. Loved it. I also had a camel hair coat. I bought it in Ballantynes in 1964. Made in England, top stitched in dark brown thread, tie belt. Gave it away 30 years later, it still looked brand new and thought I would scream if I saw it again and now I would LOVE to have it back.
Fashion isn't my choice word today. Went to Long Island to buy something from the catalogue and it isn't even in the store yet and not sure when it is arriving. Called in to South City Mall so my journey wasn't entirely wasted and got some Kate Madison jeans on sale, yellow stickered for $10...got to the checkout, $5 So went back and got a 2nd pair.

That is what I love about shopping at TWH - those nice surprises when you get up to the checkout! Had a similar thing happen to me recently too AnnieM with a Top. Was expecting to pay 17.00 .. reduced from 34.99 and then it came up at 13.97 . Wow.... I went back and another one too ! Big smiles all of my dial !

Oh yes I remeber the six inch wide cinch elastisized belts with metal hooks and clips..I loved the way it showed my 23" waist. of course I was only 5 ft high and never had a clue I would be 5ft' round when I was older!
I loved the 70's and 80's fashions. Leather tunics and high boots to knee flashing some thigh. The cullottes and midi skirts and boots boots boots..I made fabric caps to match the skirst or long lenghth suits of ultra awede, and so many other soft fabrics as well, Sewing gave me the opportunity of wearing some with a difference. I loved that. wearing the one off too.. smarty pants. I would sew up an outfit if I was to go anywhere special Kaftans with style , all sorts..Loved the Indian gear, the embossed and embroidered and the soft flowey dresses and tops. . I still have a couple in my storage. Gave most away.. wish I didn't sometimes.
Feathers, I did not wear then I had to become and old chook to gain those...who now wears shirts or pullon pants and pop tops all the same style. Still mostly hand sewn.....unique!!

Hobble skirts spike heels, fishbone heel stockings with a black seam. Oh wow did we feel like a million quid or what.
Come on girls dig out those old glamour pics & post them ---- dare you.
No one is going to know it was us.

THIS IS NOT ME it is the outfit I was talking about & I wore one just like it to the races many times.
Always with a hat to go with the gloves. Oh & the foot long imitation ivory ciggie holder.
Those were the days.
Then I would pull out my backie pouch & roll a fag to stick in the holder. The shocked faces were worth it.
No one would notice these days.

To kill time try working it to death.

A few years ago I bumped into a woman who lived in our street when I was young. We reminisced and caught up on matches, hatches and (mainly) despatches ... and she said she vividly remembered keeping an eye out for me as I walked down to the busstop each Saturday late afternoon in my party gear.

I would have been at teachers' college at the time, about 18, and worked at a cinema part-time. I would leave home each Saturday about 3pm for a 4pm start and would be dressed for the night ahead, the night in town at Browns Mill or The Foundry or somesuch other nightclub.

This woman could still describe my long flowing empire line maroon muslin dress. Had she been closer she could have smelt my pachoulie (sp?) or coconut oil (which I put on as I was rushing to the busstop as it turned dad's stomach so I wasn't allowed to wear it at home). Then there was my all-time Cat's Whiskers / Bees' Knees outfit ... my HANDMADE (appallingly, by me) purpled flared trouser suit, cream wide-lapelled blouse ~~ which I would ditch before clubbing in favour of a purple and pink tie-dyed singlety affair ~~ AND .... my mustard platform shoes!!

Oooooooooooh. That brought back memories I'd rather forget.

Fashion for 80's are still the best I guess. I like dresses and girls look pretty on dress.
