IF Santa put a travel voucher to go anywhere in the world for a Christmas Holiday, in your stocking, where would you choose, and why ?

With this voucher I will go to Germany - take a Rhine cruise - go to the Weihnachten markets - then off to the countryside - enjoy the snow - eat bockwurst - eat chocolate - drink coffee - enjoy my husband. That's it!

I will lift up my face to the sun today.

So many travel dreams ...

London definitely.
New York, Philadelphia (sp? ~ even the name thrills me), Boston, Newfoundland ...
A trip on the Orient Express
Tuscany
Did I mention London?
Oh, and definitely Ireland. I recently stocked up on four holiday-reads from Cathy Kelly ~ just family/relationship/contemporary easy novels ~ and she writes so lovingly about Ireland which inspires me, as well as my wish to explore my heritage

Closer to home:
Sydney Sydney Sydney ~ I lived in Melbourne for five years but I love Sydney more
A trip on the Ghan

Just need the passport (which expired years ago). Oh, and kindness from Lotto.

Fisrt I would take all the family kids and do all the biggest theme parks around the the world. Or go back to my favourite cities: Edinburgh, London, Dublin, Jerusalem, Rome. Or revisit USA go pick up Forgiven and to go new (to me) places like New York and Miami. Or ... oh there's oodles of places I'd like to to

Like the sound of all those...
I would love to go back to Vienna .... I would also love to go to Metz in France again, and then just go a little further on to visit Nancy where all the beautiful art nouveau glass was manufactured. I have no idea what it is really like as a city, but I have always had a hankering to go there because of the beautiful , Daum glass that came out of that area.
Recently I watched a movie called the The Love Letter. It was set in a wee village in New England or Massachussets, in America . It had the quaintest name.. Loblolly by the Sea . Something about it, drew me in to it, and I really fell in love with that place. I want to go there. In fact, I have almost become obsessed about going there... I would have loved to have gone there, and I must have been so close to it at times... having been to Boston, and to Connecticut with DH. We would have loved to have gone there .. Oh to be 20 years younger ! Dream on Kate, dream on !.

Why would you need to be 20 years younger Kkkaty? People a lot older than you travel. I am itching to do more travel and plan to do so when 15y.o. daughter does a gap year in three years. Mum is going too, much to her disgust. She thinks I am following her. Ha! Ha!

That is great AJ. Glad to hear you are planning ahead and have something exciting to look forward to while you are still young and fit enough to make the most of it. Good on you !
Yeah... I know people older than me still travel. But, I guess what I really meant was , that 20 years ago, I was more physically active and able to "do" things easier. You know... fit enough to climb those hills to catch the best views etc. I am all for doing what you want to do, while you are still in the prime of your life. When you get like me, and even have trouble even standing on one leg to put your knickers on of a morning, you sort of think twice about it. I do get a lot a pleasure thinking back on all the travel that I have been fortunate enough to have experienced earlier with my DH, and a little since without him too. The prospect of all those hours on a plane becomes a bit more daunting though now, but I should really squelch all these negatives and cast all caution to the winds..........
See how I go , going to UK in a few months time for son's wedding ... If I manage that alright, maybe I will get to Loblolly by the Sea yet !.
