Thank you ladies, very much for your welcome back. It is good to be home again, although it is taking me a little longer than usual to acclimatise myself, and get my inner clock back in cinque with Kiwi time.
Yes, AJ the wedding was like a fairy tale affair. Everything was perfect. Even the weather, which they had said was the one thing that they had no control over. They need not have worried for a perfect day dawned - the hottest and sunniest of the season they said . The bride was beautiful, and the groom placid and calm and both deleriously happy.
I had a wonderful time away. There was not a hitch. Even though I had been to England many times in the past, this was the first time I had been in the summer believe it or not, ( no one would go in their winter by choice really, but past trips were business trips, and the timing of them was dictated to us by factors beyond our control) and it was an absolute joy. It is such a pretty country when all the fields are different shades of green, and many yellow from the flowers of the rape seed crops. The Hawthorn hedges white with blossom, the lilacs, the weeping laburnums , and the gorgeous little villages and lanes . I hope I am not making anyone homesick as they read this, but can fully understand it if I am! We were so blessed with the weather - everywhere we went, it was fine and warm and light so early in the mornings, and again lovely long evenings. No wonder I am having trouble adjusting . It has been cold and dark and wet, ever since I got home. WHaaaa!
We did not stay right in London, but just a little way out at a little market town in Essex at the end of the Central Line by Tube. It was really, convenient, so we could be in the city in well under an hour and with a day pass, could hop on and off the Tube as we pleased to go anywhere we liked during that time. We managed to get into two shows - both musicals , while there. "Jersey Boys," which is the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In the words of the song "What a Night !" Oh boy, did that theatre rock ! It was wonderful , and then, the second show which also featured music of 'my era' such as Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Billy Fury, Eddie Cochran and may more, was called "Dreamboats and Petticoats." They billed it as "A Great Rockin Evening," and it sure was ! Loved every moment of both of those shows.
O.K.... the most daring thing that I did while there, was to go up on the London Eye. Yes, that is right, I who is normally scared of heights, actually got talked into going up on that thing !. It is a new addition to the London landscape since my last visit there, and I have to say, that once in it, it was not as scary as I imagined. It moves so very slowly and I found if I just keep looking out, and not down, I was fine. By the time our capsule had reached the top I was feeling quite calm and relaxed . Yay! What views ! It was well worth the ride.
My most embarrasing moment of the trip ? Well, that happened in the front foyer of a lovely little hotel that we had been staying in for a few days in Norwich . It was the morning we were checking out actually, and my daughter and I were at the front desk paying our account, and I reached into the side pocked of my handbag to pull out my Travellers checques, and with it, came fluttering to the floor around my feet, half a dozen panty liners !! There was a very hasty scrabbling about on the floor to gather them up again I can tell you, and thankfully there was only one other person standing there apart from my daughter, to see it. A man. The receptionist looked a little puzzled as to why I suddenly dived for the floor in the middle of settling up, and my daughter had suddenly started shaking with stifled laughter while remonstrating " Oh Mum !!" at me, and by the time she had leaned over the top of her desk to peer over, I had crammed them all back into my bag again, so she had no idea what was going on. Oh well... I simply mumbled something about 'always dropping things, ' and kept my eyes averted from the other person standing there, with a very straight face, when I risked a sly peek at him. I did not realise at that precise moment, he happened to be the Taxi driver we had called to take us to the station ! He behaved very properly , I must say, and I give him first marks for keeping a straight face .
You know, those things make great bookmarks too... but that is another story, which I suspect that I have probably told you about before.. LOL..

Sounds like it was a very successful trip Kkkaty. I'm pleased it went well. Your pantyliner story reminds me of the ad on TV with the young guy who is playing silly buggers with his partner's pantyliners when her parents walk in.

Oh Kate, I am so glad everything went so well for you - especially the weather! I know from bitter experience that it can be very unpredictable, a bit like Auckland - but much colder, and damper. Oh that damp, I remember it well. I cannot wait to see you and hear all the goss, and see some photos - you did take some, didn't you???? xxxxx
