Off to Vietnam in 2 days 5 Years, 7 Months ago
Yee haa!!! I am very excited as my partner and I are off on holiday to Vietnam on Sunday for 10 days. I am very excited. I booked the tickets a few months ago when this special deal came up with Flight Centre. Since then, I have heard of so many people who nave been these in the last year.
What I am most nervous of is crossing the roads! Apparently they just walk and leave the traffic to avoid the people. Very scary.

Have a wonderful time Lee Donna, and tell us all about it when you return. I am sure you'll get the hang of crossing roads and will just enjoy the break away and the wonderful scenery. Have lots of fun and enjoy yourself

hehe, i have heard all about those rutty roads and the 'dicing with death dance ' that you have to do to get accross them but on the other hand the scenery is beautiful, the food is cheap and apparently the coffee is fantastic!. Have a wonderful time - I wish it was me!.

Thanks Sandy & Katy. I'll manage. I have been Sooooo busy doing so much in the last week that I am still a long way from being ready to even pack. Still, as long as Ic can get on the plane with the essentials, I'm sure it will all work out. So what if I don't get time to sleep tonight? I can sleep on the plane - takes nearly 12 hours Auckland to Dubai, so plenty of time for sleeping.

Damn, I have probably missed you but if not, I hope you have a wonderful time. I used to work in Travel Medicine and we had loads of people go off to Vietnam and I never heard anyone say they didn't like it. I understand that the people are really special. Gosh Auckland - Dubai - Vietnam sounds like a bit of a tikky tour though. I hope it's not too arduous for you. Tell all when you get back.

Thank you so much everyone for lovely wishes.

Yep we had a ball. It was really good for us as a couple too. I had organsied everything (that's what I do) and my partner really valued how useful these skills were. When I am organising things at home, he can get quite irritated - its boring. I think there is a spinoff now as he sees my organisational skills as having a plus side as well.

Vietnam is fantastic. Culture shock, fascinating, interesting, beautiful (in places), millions of motorbikes & scooters. The people are generally wonderful. I expected there to be an underlying tension about big white English speaking tourists, as a result of the Vietnam war. But there was none. Just lovely kind caring people trying so hard to make a living.

The food is wonderful - so tasty. Vietnam is also so terribly cheap to holiday in. Food, accommodation, bus trips, tours can all be had very cheaply for tourists, if you walk outside the hotel doors to the tourist travel agencies.

I don't have Jaqui's great PC skills, so no photos from me. Sorry for that.
