Hi, I know lots of real estate agents and from what I see, they have such flexible hours they never really stop working. Closing sales and running deals never happens at 10am on a wednesday, it happens between 6 and 9pm on a Wednesday, or on saturday morning when you want to take your kids to sports. While you are at home during the holidays someone will filch your sales. You have to work weekends because of open homes. Give them to another agent and lose the lister's commission.
If your heart is not in it, don't even go there, it's a vocation not a job.

You are absolutely right Maryanne. The beauty of this opportunity for me is that hubby will be on hand to share my RE workload whenever the school holidays are around. After all, they are his children too!

Thought that I had better give you all an update.

I have completed the necessary course and start my real estate job on November 1st 2007. My youngest child starts school on Friday so I have just over a week of "free" time (what ever that means) to get myself organised.

I am still a wee bit aprehensive (as you would be in any job that you are about to embark on) but I am a stickler for detail and very methodical so I know that these attributes will be very useful in the real estate world.

Wish me luck and I will keep you all posted.

Powder Puff you have decided what you want for yourself and you have had the courage to just DO IT!
I am sure it will go well for you. People with positive attitudes who are prepared to step out of their comfort zone or follow their gut feelings will generally succeed. It may be slow to begin, but I predict that you will soon be achieving your goals. You have that desire to.
