Great... I was thinking either Janet or Emmecat. Welcome back Janet - you are a Jem!

Thanks for the enlightenment, Grace. I thought so but needed to verify.

Just found this old thread and Jem's first post reflects my own feelings. Jem I hope you are still enjoying your job...we miss your posts!!!

As I was about to take that step out of this place to where I think I ought to be and my heart craves, a sudden change in employment! Nothing has worked out because I was reactive and grasped at any opportunity to earn a regular wage because I have to... About seven weeks ago
I left a job I had fallen into last year in which I was micromanaged and stifled and herded and monitored in a way I had never known before. Anathema to me. (still wanting the new career I had studied for when I left years of teaching)... I couldnt stand it so I resigned..also they fire you if you dont reach target and that was a distinct possibiity and I didnt want it to happen.. then out of the blue...a phone call from a company I had emailed a resume to although I was unsure about the job.....the best day of interviews I have ever had which concluded with an offer I couldnt refuse... and now Ive been there one month and I should be back in NZ! A dilemma. What do I do?
This opportunity whilst its still in the same industry...its worlds away from where I had been working. We are professionals, there is no training, there is no micromanagement or electronic monitoring. Remuneration is excellent. Little perks appear out of the woodwork like $30 in each paycheck to help pay for gas because its so expensive.
But its not simply the money, its being treated like intelligent life; being respected for one's knowledge and skills; its the challenge and the fulfillment. Everyone works very hard and appears happy in what they are doing. We go away next week to a beachfront resort for team building and fun as well and this is an annual event.

Its a world away from the evil greedy old attorney and his doggy doo!!!

Sylke! That is so great! Why can't you enjoy this fantastic job for a bit longer? Yes you want to return to this side of the world. But this new job sounds so great and you are enjoying it. It sounds like the kind of job everyone would want. So it is lovely news. Perhaps if your homelife changed things would be near perfect? Or perhaps that has improved for you too. Hope so.

It is great that you are really enjoying your new job, Sylke. I see the dilemma it creates for you though. But just because you have a new job doesn't mean you have to stay in your marriage if you are unhappy with it. Maybe being happy in a big part of your life i.e. work will give you the energy to get out of the unhappy part. But then again I could be talking through a hole in my head. As for Jem, she doesn't seem to come here any more which is such a shame as I used to enjoy her posts. I was lucky enough to meet her a couple of months ago and she is a great lady.

Hi AJ! am hoping now to be able to attend to that little matter

I do wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do jobwise. Look forward to hearing about it. Health is huge over here and most of the jobs are in the health sector or education as mine is. They are building huge hospitals evrywhere. There are two brand new hospitals within a 5 miles radius of us. The population has burgeoned...some of it legally and some of it illegally

Its a shame Jem does not post any more...hopefully job and personal life are going so well she doesnt have time!! It is always nice to think that if people are not visiting as regularly that it is because their lives are very much fuller! My life is not so full right now, we have 3 days off!!
We also earned a bonus this month which I could use to pay a couple of mnths on an apartment!!
