Survey, if you please. 1 Year, 6 Months ago

I thought this would be the best place to post this - there is no such heading as business is there?
I'm learning all the new stuff! I have a Face Book profile (useful for keeping contact with friends / family back home).
I then realised that it could be good to also have a Page for my business. I've created the page and I have a growing number of fans.
Now for the Questions:
1. Do you think older / mature women bother to read the Pages that they might add as favourites - they obviously look at the Page when they add it but do they ever go back to that page?
2. If not, why not?
I'm trying to work out whether it is worth my while posting interesting articles on my FB page. At the moment I have put in quite a bit of work - like the history of perfume but I now wonder whether a blog is a better way to go?
I would really appreciate any feedback on this. I don't want to stay behind but I also don't want to waste my time. [/size]

Speaking for myself Liz, I do frequently return to sites that I have put into my favourites.
I do not get much time to "surf" but sometimes when I have come across a site that I really enjoy, and know that I will want to return to it, I do book mark it because it is the only way an older person like me, who has a memory that frequently lets her down, will ever remember how to find that site again !! I am very selective about what I do save - they really do have to be special in some way, and yes, I go back in to enjoy them again often. Realwomen is one of the earlier sites that I book marked very soon after I got my computer. One of the reasons i daresay, that I do not have much time to surf new places !
I am not sure about facebook. I think perhaps it is more for the younger ones... perhaps. Maybe I am just not into it that much , nor are many of my friends of my age group. Perhaps we just don't "get it," but then, we are not looking at it for, or as a business tool are we ?

I looked in on FB et al. a couple of times, & to me it is only a medium for garnering "Friends" (? ? ?)
To me, the social networking is a crock, & I prefer to go to intellectual sites myself.
I have my own *friends* who are true friends, that know me personally, ..not some nerd who likes to see his/her name & face adorning some other similar installed nerd site.
In fact, ...too much personal information is shared with total strangers I feel.
It'll come back to bite them on the bum one day.
Now Blogs are a different style, where the blogger...in a good blog, can entertain, inform & generally be very interesting to read.
I found the history of perfume enlightening.

Thanks, I won't close my FB Page but it looks more and more that a blog might be a better idea. Will just have to learn how to link the blog to get the most out of it. Some days I feel as if I want nothing to do with the internet but I realise that's short sighted.

I rarely read blogs, but am on FB every day. I have tight parameters set, only befriend people important to me, ignore all of the games, most of the suggested pages, and just about all of the friend suggestions. While I am aware that there are ads on the side aimed at me I very rarely notice them. The younger ones are more open to it all and seem to use and access the marketing side of things.

Delta, I also ignore the games completely. I do, however, read some Pages - although I find the that most people don't go to any lengths to make it interesting. That's why I put the history of Perfume on mine - to try and make it interesting (not sure if the young ones read anymore though!)
Tonight I posted Perfume and Poems on my personal homepage - beautiful photos by our company to which I added extracts from my favourite poems - I might put that on the Page and see whether people will read it.
Sigh, I suppose one must try, try and try again and see what works. Ultimately I think I'm still a firm believer in one on one. I try to teach new distributors to go the extra mile for the customer, to give extraordinary service and to be knowledgeable about our produts, alas, only a few take the training on board.

Update on survey 1 Year, 4 Months ago
|
|
HI, I've been so busy that I only had time to scan here from time to time.
I would like to give you an update on my survey: I somehow stuck with my facebook Page and it started to grow and slowly work for me. I've had some good response and managed to get enquiries via the page.
My verdict: looks like you have to work at it and at least give it a chance!

Good on you, Liz. I could be on the Net all day everyday checking out my Twitter, and FB, and the couple of message boards, and a number of blogs that I like to read.
