Finding a job 1 Year ago
Ok I've been looking after my nieces for over a year - their mother doesn't respect me or even thank me. I've applied for numerous jobs but been turned down. I helped a friend for a job application and she got it. I know I should be happy for her but I just feel so jealoud that I was bullied out of my job and now can't find one. heck I'm depressed today.

Heaps of hugs to you LJ. Don't know what else to say, we all know that things will eventually change - just never in our desired timeline. Hope it all happens for you soon.

I don't know what to say L.J....except I see the pain you are experiencing.

Don't give up hope. Socialise with as many people that you can.

Most jobs are actually not advertised, but told of, from a contact.

Take each day as it comes.

Maybe consider something completely different from what you are skilled for?

An enthusiastic candidate, with no apparent skills, but really eager, can learn on the job.

Sell yourself, as a person they can't refuse to employ.

Stop helping your SIL by minding her children.

Your future prospects are more important, than helping her to work.

Good luck.

Count all your blessings. the ones that cost you no money.

Thanks - I think I'm just depressed and suffering lack of sleep due to a teething one year old.

Re: Finding a job 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Having just been made redundant myself, I know how it can be very depressing to stay home all the time. I had a long spell off before I got this last job 5 year ago. I live in a smallish town, and unless I can travel some distance daily, I don't see my prospects as very bright for future either. Have been trying to think of a way of working from home, but I am a bit limited as to what I can do really unless it is home aiding or someother low paid job that not many are prepared to do for the minimum wage.

After yet another week passing and still no prospects in sight for me, I was wondering how things have been going for you LJ?
I did go for an interview on Friday , but was told there were more than 60 applicants . I am not holding my breathe or expecting anything to eventuate really.
I am lucky I suppose that I have got a husband who earns reasonable money and that we can manage . Just. It will be harder on the kids during the holiday though , with less income to spend on movies and other treats but they will just have to get used to for the time being. I tell them that it is also boring for me to be stuck at home with no money to go places.

LJ you were a bit despondent when last posted and we also wonder if you are feeling any better now. I hope those little teeth have popped through and that you are getting better nights sleep as a result. Any day is better faced after a good sleep.
Good job hunting to you and Artichoke. Hope something comes up for both of you soon.
