Re: What CAN I be thinking? 5 Years ago
Well, I've decided to stay in my current job - can't think of another job which would use as many of my talents. I now have the added responsibility of delivering computing tuition for a new employment maintenance programme contract we've just signed with ACC. This new challenge will prevent me from cruising my way to retirement, but without the additonal stress of starting again in a totally new working environment. So, I guess I could say I've not so much stepped out of my comfort zone as expanded its boundaries just a little.

Congratulations Jode, on the bigger field you have in which to toil... sounds like in your heart you know that you have made the right decision for you at this time, so that is the main thing. Good for you, ans as long as you are enjoying what you do, and have the knowedge that you are appreciated, that is the main thing. I enjoy my job too, but just sometimes I get a bit of a restless feeling and wonder if I should move on and gracefully retire. I don't get paid very well, but the main value of my job to me is that I do not get bored wittless. I may get driven wittless at times, but there is no such thing as boredom. Thank goodness!

Congratulations Jode. You thought about it, and it sounds like you now feel happy with your choice. A manageable challenge is great - nice that a more mature person is given a chance instead of being considered "too old" after 50!!! (I hate that attitude). So well done and hope you keep enjoying the work.

I certainly made the right decision, girls - had my annual appraisal last week and as well as being told "You're doing a brilliant job, Jode", I'm also to get an extra $1 an hour as of next payday. Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
