I guess banana cake must be more popular in NZ than in the US, as I suspect most Kiwi cooks have a banana cake in thier baking repertoire. There's always been debate in my household about what flavour icing (that's frosting to you State-siders) should top a banana cake - lemon or chocolate? I favour chocolate and as I'm the baker, it's chocolate we have, and anyone who objects is very welcome to bake the next banana cake himself.
