Hi Big girl & Dawn. Welcome to the site. Don't get too hung up on the morbidly obese label, Big girl - it's calculated on the assumption that there is an "Ideal weight" for every person, irrespective of age, ethnicity and other genetic factors. The trick is to eat a healthy diet and take regular exercise in a form you can sustain over a long period - you may or may not lose weight, but you'll certainly gain health, and that's what ought to be important.

Looking good has much more to do with how you feel about yourself than how much you weigh - a confident big woman is every bit as beautiful, elegant, and sexy as her thin counterparts.

If you want lively discussion, a shoulder to cry on, information, good advice or even just a good old fashioned bellylaugh, you've come to the right place.

I'm Jode, BTW, soon to be 54, from sunny Gisborne. I'm married to network manager Mike, and have a 22 year old son, Dan, currently living and working in Christchurch. I'm computing supervisor in a brain injury rehab centre.

I hope you'll both enjoy our company and I look forward to getting to know you.

Hi All

Thanks for the kind welcome. I live in Western Australia, in a mining town. As from tomorrow I will be working 4 days a week because I just can not cope with the demands of the job. This is unfortuntley directly related to my size. I weigh about 260 kg and have found over time that my body is able to do less and less. I have tried to control my weight, with some extreme measures at times, yet I gain it all again plus more. I suppose that I have come here hoping to gain some friendship and also to learn from others in a similar situation, although I relaise that I am probably goiing to be the biggest by a country mile, that is okay. I am really looking for support and encouragement.
My family are very good to me and that is why I am able to work and survice I guess. I was a mature aged student, studying in the distance education mode, for many years from 1999 till just this year and have managed to achieve a bachelor degree and now post grad qualifications.
Hope to talk to you some more.

Welcome to all the newbies. I have been away for a bit so may have missed your entrance into this sunny site... well usually sunny, and bright place to be. Look forward to getting to you all as time goes by.
