The new site looks wonderful. Still getting used to the changes especially the mm/dd/yy format. I do have a little problem, though. Whenever I go into the forum, I never if there is any new messages. All the folders remain yellow like I have read them all. Aren't the folders supposed to change colors when there are new posts. Thank you for help.:)

Yeah there seems to be a little issue with the 'new posts' icons, I'm working ok that.

As for the dates, where is the mm/dd/yy format used? I thought I'd fixed them all now.

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I come on and see those amber coloured folders. I immediately think they look like handels of ice cold beer all lined up the side! So Cheers, anyway!!

I had to look at them twice too - they do look like mugs of lager to me

Re:Your feedback is valued 5 Years, 11 Months ago
Yesterday one of the RW sent me an PM . I was surprised to see that her full name was shown on the sender line, in brackets after her user name. I mailed her back and she later confirmed that my full name was also visible on my response to her. We were both rather surprised by this revellation. While it is OK between she and I because we have met and know and trust each other, we both feel that in other circumstances our security might be threatened. ie... we often mention things like when we are going away. If we have also stated where we live either in our profile or in a post at some time.. When we filled in our profiles it stated that our first and last names were required information,. I had no objection to the site owner's having access to that detail, but it did not state that those details would also be visible to other site users who chose to send us a pm. . Even if we choose not to reply, the sender can see our full details when she views the mail in her out box. We both feel that our full names should never be visible to anyone. What do other's think ?

I cheated a bit, Kate and only put my first name and a single letter for my last name. My reason for doing this was that I was unsure what would be viewable by whom. As yet I have not used the PM function, so your post giving us a headsup is much appreciated.

Lee, is there some way to avoid this? Whilst there are some RW's who already know my full name, I am not sure I want it published in any messages. Like Katy, I don't mind RW Administration knowing my personal details, nor my RW friends, but as we get more members, initially at least, it would be good to remain somewhat anonymous????

I share your concern about this KKKKaty. I haven't exchanged private messages since the format changes, but woul d like to think that my permission was required before other members could access my details. It strikes me as odd that when I log on, I'm now welcomed by my full name - a simple "Welcome Jode" seems a lot more welcoming than the current "Welcome Jody W......."

With the magnitude of the changes Lee's undertaken, there are bound to be a few things escape his attention - I hope he'll see our criticism for what it is - a desire to make Realwomen a really safe and user friendly site.

some concerns..

Oh my! I apologise wholeheartedly for this, it was indeed an oversight and certainly not intentional in any way. The security of the information you provide us has always been a top priority for Realwomen and this has not changed.

Obvisouly things may be missed on the odd occasion, especially with the varety of things happening at the moment, so it's very much appreciated that you can bring these to our attention when they're noticed and we'll do our very best to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Both points raised in your posts have been fixed.

Regards

Lee

This is one of the reasons I never use my real name on the net.
Many years ago before I had ever touched a computer I read a book that said never use your name on the net & went on to say that the best net name--- was to use your second name + the street you first remember as a child --that way it is easy to remember.
I did just that & became who I am online

To kill time try working it to death.
