Hi,
I had been a posting member on Realwomen a couple of years ago, I'm Jenny. I stopped visiting because some of the things said on the postings made me so mad I just had to get away from the site for a while, weight is a very emotional subject for me. But I recently got the email about the revamped site and I thought I'd give it another burl. I'm a librarian and yes I do read a lot. I like science fiction, amonst other things, and I belong to the Phoenix Science Fiction Society in Wellington, which is a real fun group with some really nice people. I don't have a partner or any kids, but I do have a cat. I got a ginger kitten in March. I called her Murphy. Murphy is a she, to the surprise of me, my vet, my bank balance, and Murphy when she woke up with a shaved belly with stitches in. She's a funny combination of timid and feisty and she's my little sweety.
My views on the subject of weight might be a little different from others. I've become disillusioned with the big is beautiful movement. I've personally discovered that just size alone can cause health problems no matter what else you do/don't do. I also think there has been a swing back to negative attitudes about big people coinciding with/caused by the obesity epidemic "stuff". But I promise to respond to different opinions respectfully. So, I'll hang around for a bit and have a bit of a yack.
