When I visited Sydney I came across an amazing boutique called Towanda. The staff there were so helpful and very honest and had great suggestions, I walked away a very happy women. They specialize in fabulous designer contemporary clothing for women size 14 plus. In their stores you will find a selection of over 25 Australian & International labels. The range of garments at Towanda range from workday to weekend, smart casual to formal occasions. Towanda womenswear have two convenient store locations in the heart of Melbourne and Sydney.

They also have an online boutique.
www.towanda.com.au

So I highly recommend that you check them out.

Goodluck

Hi!

I just have a silly question (I'm moving to NZ in May...): when you order from Australia, do you have to pay some tax on your parcel? And if you order from the US (I'm addicted to Torrid) or Europe (they have ther best shops online in UK!)????

Thank you by advance!

S.

Salut Sarah Answer is no, there is no inbound sales tax. The current exchange rate is not so flash which has stopped me buying so much from overseas but on the whole it's pretty good.

Salut Maryanne!
So no tax, this is so great, even if you order from UK and USA, or is it only a special agreement with Australia?
If there is no tax on UK and US importations, I'll prepare a list of all my favourite websites!!!!

Thank you so much, you made my day!

Well Sarah, when I buy things online from overseas, they don't add anything to the advertised price except shipping. I do believe that if you spend more than a certain amount, you will get charged duty coming in, which may be what you mean? I think it is 19%. I've bought to the value of around $300 NZ and never hit it, myself, but I have heard it happen to others in that price range.
So, if you keep your purchases fairly small, you should be fine!
Things bought from NZ online shops attract GST which is 12.5% - prices here include it usually but people ordering from them from overseas don't pay it so they add it later. I don't buy clothes online within Nz, but lots of other things from jams and chutneys to fabric.

The shopping is actually very good in New Zealand. We can exist here in our little corner of the world, very comfortably and we are by no means some sort of a primitive back water. I sometimes perceive that there are some ppl who seem to think that we live in the ass end of the world. Let me reassure you Sarah , we do have up to the minute fashions and fashion designers here and do we have shops from which modern and first class garments are sold so it is easy to exist without mail order. You will pay 12 .5 % in Goods and Services Tax ( GST) on any item or service you use here. This is included in the price on the tickets and in the advertising. Nothing is added on at the cash register afterwads, which will t give you any unexpected nasty shocks. However, you can if you wish, in our hot Auckland summers, just run around in your bare feet and a grass skirt as we are multi cultural here . You have the best of both and either is civilised and acceptable. So, why hanker for other places and services that you are leaving, before you even arrive here. ? Ok, so you are doing your homework, and that is fine, but there are surely other areas which you need to know about, and which would have a higher degree of importance surely, than fashion? Standard of education here, as an example. That woud be one for me which you perhaps should research more on Sarah. It is pretty good though in fact, let me reassure you on that score too.
I am fairly certain, that even the most average of Kiwis would know that Paris is in France for example.
