Seventeen days ago I decided I had enough of being overweight. I am 28 years old, 165cm in height and when I weighed myself I saw 115kg on my scale! My doctor prescribed me reductil (15mg dose) - the weight loss pill for obese people designed to act as an appetite suppressant and speed up my metabolism. She told me told me to break my meals up into smaller portions - if I was having 3 meals ad day then to split them up to make up 6. That way my blood sugar levels stay up and I don't feel hungry all the time.
So I did that. I also stopped having a hells pizza twice a week, a two course Thai dinner once a week, KFC twice a week, McDonalds twice a week and even brunch on the weekends. At the supermarket I'd fill my trolley up with tuna, salmon, lots of high fibre vegies, and very lean cuts of meat. I made up a food diary to look at what I'd eat every day making sure I planned meals and included protein, fibre and lots of vegies in my day. Portions were smaller of course but I realised I wasn't going to starve to death. Every second day I have hopped on my stationery bike and cycled for 20 mins during the first week then increased to 30 mins the following week. This week I introduced some fat burning exercises as well since I have more energy. (Squats, lunges, sit ups etc.)
It is day seventeen and I have lost 7 kilos and have gone down a size fitting into some old pants I'd put aside when they were in danger of being split at the seams! I have read everywhere that "you should lose no more than .5 kilograms per week to achieve sustainable weight loss". So I am meant to eat more!? That sounds like nonsense to me! I didn't expect to lose so much weight but why should I eat more!?
I have drank 8 glasses of water everyday since I started and make very frequent trips to the ladies letting it all out so my weight loss isn't attributed to "water loss". I also have some brand spanking new Weight watchers scales that measure my body fat and that has also come down by just under 1.5% so I haven't lost muscle either.
I feel miserable either way because the people I have told are not happy with my results. They are worried for me but I am miffed because I feel motivated seeing these kind of results.
