you can sit when you are measuring the diameter of your foot. The different brands are not all the same length which is why there is more than one chart and even within the brand like Ros Hommerson there are different widths and the wider the shoe the bigger the diameter! Can all get a little confusing I agree. Just like with the clothing market there are no standard measurements in footwear either.
