Had 4th Spinal Needle yesterday...... 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Ok so although the supasonic drama has worn off on this topic I thought I would check out and let you in on this one too.

I was driven down the hill the 50 kms by friend Maureen, dear woman, who yesterday travelled 200 kms to take me and then call back for me last night from the Penrith Hospital where I had another spinal block injection.
I had only really two days notice this time. It is so hard to find anyone to drive that distance too. I think the staff reckon we all have family friends or many dollars just to get there. It is not fair to ask a friend either. . So be it.

Maureen actually called and asked me just just after I was having a conversation with the hospital who was saying they would cancel the procedure if I did not have someone to collect me. I did get a bed one time, but this is now not an option. Beurocracy ( sp) and it's rules, and the fact the hospitals are almost broken down with whatever mismanagement has been supplied. But that was not the immediate situation under discussion . I had two days notice of this too so that also made it harder.
The Gods blessed me with Maureen calling me just as I hung up from the terse receptionist ,who kept asking over and over again like some brainwashing agent, "haven't you got someone or family who will pick you up..?" until I felt I wanted to shout "Did you not hear me?"
I am not sure if she realised how long it would take to travel as well and the time factor.

Maureen did seem tired after she picked me up at 6p.m. Six hours later. How do you expect to ask a person to linger that long? She chose to return home and come back down again.

My daughter will have to support me next time. She lives about the same distance Sydney side, maybe nearer now. She is too spoilt by me and always has 'her work and young children ' on her own agenda. Hmm I did too with her when she was growing up. I still managed to do more with life that that. maybe she resented that who knows. But we are all different.
I snuck some petrol money into a bag of home grown lemons to her. I hope she unpacks them.....soon

After coming back with a numb bum and left leg and wobbles for about 8 hours, gave an awkward sensation and a sudden burst of incontinence. This I was told can happen as the same nerves to the coccyx also go to the bladder.. yikes.. I was running on numb, every time I would lean forward I would have to stop and restudy self, odd feelings last night.
Also when I sat on the loo with the left cheek and leg totally numb wondered at first ..ooer am I really sitting over the hole????
This after math was different to the other needles. It was overnight before I the numbness had receded! then I wake to OUCH still there BUT half strength yippeee small blessings are appreciated. I was able to get the morning cuppa coffee and feed the cat within 15 minutes this morn ..whoopppeee..

Had the Professor of the Pain Clinic do the job. He seemed to choose different areas than other doc.. but although the pain is now at half level I hope it will still give me less waking dramatic performances.. well not the waking part, the sitting and walking takes over an hour now can be disastrous at times......double, triple reeks!!
I am then so glad I live alone. No-one could bear my mornings of groans and rude words for long. Trust me, I can't myself!!!!!

I am waiting to see it if all settles down as sometimes it does and maybe get a few weeks respite. To feel I could rise and walk normal again would be heaven. One never realises what blessings we have until we lose them is so true.
But I do not try to dwell on it for too long. It is the way it is for now. and maybe longer..
Seems this is an area that the medics as yet have not been successful in repairing or any safe way to reduce the pain long term
Some patients can get long term relief. I so wish I was on that life list...PLEASE Gods.

Then I accidently whacked poor Feobe, my 18 year aged pusscat on her nose with a TV remote last night. She put her head up and froze with eyes closed in pain then sneezed three times. You could see her eyes water through the whole moment. I was SO remorseful and she had extra hugs which she seems to live for now , what with her breakfast ,dinner and her early morning banshee screaming through the curtains at poor old BW Walter the other side who like I do, wishes she would 'belt up' he is not threat and she is the only one who gets a buzz out of her war cries.. another unwelcome awakening I find. I tried putting pillows on the floor against the curtains but she sneaked up the end of the drops and poked her face there, and roared once more . She is deaf!

Must away have to pack and go off to Sydney soon to pick up Bree from school and so it goes. I will be lost I think when the children do not need me maybe about 5 more years or not for Bree...ouch how they grow so.

Had to postpone new wing doc today on the way, as no driving allowed for 12 hours...that has been so trouble free...
