I looked right through the health Forum & could not find anything on these procedures...
I got the bad news last week from my Doc that I HAVE to have one of these and soon! Initially I went to see him about this awful tiredness I am suffering from....a faster weight loss than normal and when he examined my tummy he found 2 areas that he said "need investigation".
I am absolutely terrified of one of these examinations and told him I would only have one if I was put out for it! 'course he says it's a bit uncomfortable ( read pain when a Doc says that!) but that the sedation they give makes ya forget about it...well I don't want to know what's going on and know for me sedation does not work! Crikey I even woke before I should have after my big bypass while I was still on the 'table' which shocked the theatre staff no end! I have not forgotten that either or the pain I felt.
I feel like I am being bullied into this & annoyed when told that the Theatre Sister decides whether or not a General is called for. Apparently the excuse is that the risks are high but the risks were not explained to me, I was too shellshocked to ask! Hell's bells I took a huge risk when I had my bypass (risk of heart attack, stroke,clots and a 2% chance of death) and breezed through it... Doc reckons after that bypass I should be able to handle a colonoscopy...I told him that after that bypass I only hurt when they touched me and felt no pain at all otherwise.

So my question is: have any of you ladies had one and what was your experience...did you remember the pain etc or not. I have asked other relatives and friends and there's a 50:50 split on experiences...
after all I have been through in the past 3 months I need the truth and nuffin but the truth...lol...'cos if I don't get a knock out job I'll be outta that place quicker than a tom cat about to lose his family jewels!
