There was a manhole above the drain. Apparently they searched there several times without any sight of her. Someone, a member of the public, spotted a blocked and overflowing drain further up and that's when they brought the diggers in. It was a pipe drain, very narrow and it seems that Aisling might have been very quickly swept out of sight and into this pipe. What a horrible ending to a life. My heart goes out to those distraught parents. I suppose you could say that at least they know now, rather that spending the rest of their lives wondering, but it is still a terrible ordeal for them.
