My iron levels are low and falling and to find out if there is anything amiss in my tum I am having a gastroscopy in a couple of weeks, I can have a sedative (apart from the anaesthetic sprayed down your throat) if I want to and I am wondering if any of you ladies have had the procedure and have any advice as whether sedation is needed.
I am not a scaredy cat, I will quite happily look at the needle going in for a blood test and knowing the spray stops? you gagging wonder if I need the sedation. In some ways I am hoping they find something that can be fixed as the low iron is starting to have an impact on me and my Dr doesn't want to start supplements until we find out why I am not getting enough from my food, I have been eating red meat, green leafy veges etc as advised for iron but in 8 weeks my levels have fallen further, my stores are dropping and red blood cells are small and pale ( wish I could say that about the rest of me

) so I am "hitting the wall" quite often and really feel positively exhausted at times.
Any help will be taken on board and gratefully received
