A couple of weeks for the dumpster. 3 Years, 5 Months ago
Last week I went to the doctor and was told I had strep and was put on antibiotics. Two days later I went in to the ophthalmologist and he preformed a laser "treatment" on my eye...which I think he may have FLUBBED. Last Tuesday, I was in the bathroom, stepped back off the edge of a rug, and felt I was falling backward, so I jerked forward to right myself, and in doing so, sprained my knee. Two days laster, when I could tolerate the pain no longer, dh took me to the emergency room at the hospital. I am what is commonly known as A BIG MESS!

I had no idea knee pain could possibly be this insidious. I was up all night one night, unable to bear it. By day break I was showered and dressed and on my way to the hospital. A vicodin, a leg brace and a wheel chair did the trick. I've been home ever since. We had to get a surround for around the loo, as I couldn't get up or down. We had to get a walker and a bench for the shower. I've gone from feeling like 39 to 99 in seconds.

I'll get over it.

It doesn't rain, but it pours Jilly

Such a little accident,...but such a lot of *aids* needed for mobility.

Sorry about your pain, but those aids should help with getting you back on your feet.

Hope your vision improved with laser work. I understand it restores vision wonderfully.

Hang in there.

Hugs. XOXOXO

So sorry for your pain Jilly. Just keep all those add-ons. As you age you never know when you will need them next.
Everyone told me to hire things when DH had the first hip job.
Glad we didn't.
They have come to the rescue many times over the intervening years.
I have turned the hip replacement toilet-seat & the surround with hand rests, into our emergency Loo by mounting the seat on a 20ltr bucket.
Invalid surround means DH can use it without overbalancing.

When I broke my toe; I was able to strap it & get about using DH's elbow crutches (down a notch or 2) to just get on without missing a beat.

To kill time try working it to death.

I'm still doing my Long John Silver imitation (minus the parrot) since beggering my knee three weeks ago. I do know how handicapping it can be and it's a shame we weren't designed with three hands- one for the crutch and two for doing all the things that we women are expected to be able to do with one hand tied behind our backs. That M other Nature again - another design fault.

Can symathise as I am still waiting for the torn ligament to be repaired 17 months so far. I have just had to do what I can all this time and use the stick even though it hurts to put weight on leg. The first pain you are feeling now lasted about a month or more then one had to get going then I had to get used to it.. I know you have a lot of loving help there so get well soon Jilly.
Now you will join ranks of the many who complain of knee pain it is SO debilitating to say the least. You will walk again. I am sure there are some excellent physios who will also come to your aid when the intial pain wears off.

I might have my op next month and I will still be going it alone until I can walk on leg mentally planning and devisng ways to get to loo such as sitting and peddling one foot on the walking frame and hoping to get to the loo and basthroom somehow, Crutches are not an option due to the arthitid shoulder the metal one aargh a fall can change all your whole life patterns in a second...

Wish hat you be up and dancing for Easter anyhow and your birthday next month!!

Wondered where you have been of late Jilly.. Still conquering the Mac....I am, on one now it is not set to my sight so I can barely read the words.. different ways!! I will have to learn this too . How are you going with yours now? We get so accustomed to other that the new does seem daunting with all the geegaws and button gadgets.

Ditto what Fran said. Is it something going round I wonder ? I have got swollen glands at present and a croaky throat too. However,
I don't really want to add my own complaints on here, but we are a bunch of blimmen crocks right now it seems .
Take care everybody !

Feel better, soon everyone!

If we are facing in the right direction, all we have to do is keep on walking.
