I think no matter how well you are all taking this girls, the end will be like a miracle I am sure. Is there any forecasting of the times ahead?
The erupting volcanos are having a good blast too. I have never heard of any airflights being cancelled from Oz due to volcanic ash...I think so did NZ!

I am caught between both views, that there is more natural damge and crises than before, and the fact we have almost instant connection to these catastrophes makes it seem as if it is different than ever before. Yet I feel our Earth has many many eons to live.

Splish splash she was taking a bath , all upon a saturday night !

Whenever I hear that song I am reminded of the time when I was obut 12 0r 13 and sitting in the bathtub when a good earthquake struck. it was an old fashioned , free standing bath with claw feet, standing in the middle of a fairly large bathroom. Splash splash the water was going from one end of it two the other and splashing out over the floor. By the time the quake had stopped i was sitting high and dry with more water on the linoleum than was left in the bath. Mum used to hang all the cups up on cup hooks screwed under one of the kitchen shelves. I could hear them jiggling against each other as they swung back and forth in time with the swaying homestead. Although none of them came off, we still had a good many with chips either on their rims or bottoms.

I think you are right Chookie... I certainly hope so !

I'm sure there is no way of predicting when and if any of this will end. In the meantime, after all that you have been through, it has to have changed everyone psychologically. Sort of like men returning after serving in a war...post traumatic stress. I really do wish there was something I could do that might help any of you. I can't imagine what it would be, but I'd be willing to try. I am trying to think how I would feel if it were me and I was living in a broken house, and everything that could break, was broken, and the earth just kept on shaking. I'm not sure I'd be able to get out of bed in the morning.

I've had the 'dash from the shower' experience when a large aftershock hit.......

....the bubbles left pretty patterns on the carpet as I fled!

(Had the toilet wobbles a couple of times now, it's really quite unsettling because you feel as though you are peeing outside the actual toilet! )

*~*I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday. *~*

It's SOOOO quiet here just now! Perhaps it's come to an end? Owwww - wouldn't it be luverly?? Every cloud has a silver lining though - we have just had a most wonderful logfire installed , AND another heat pump , and the roof fixed under the emergency repairs scheme. Our house is a bit cracked and crooked, and the ground outside is all upsy-downsy, but we have never been so snug. We are currently living in the lounge with 3 rooms of furniture whilst we await a painter, and as wonderful Fairy Faye will attest, we're even more untidy than usual, but we're glad to be alive. It's lovely to know that folks all over the country/world are thinking about us. XXX

Only 2 shakes today so far Nanny, & 3 yesterday.

Maybe it is the start of diminishing shakes,eh?.

Good to hear from you & you are both o.k.

Those log fires are very cosy & warm.

Don't worry about the other rooms, ...we are all in the same boat I think.

After September, I took everything down out of my wall unit.

All breakables are wrapped & packed, & stored under my couch,...of all places, but I still have some heavy things on the floor in my kitchen, before I ever put them back up on my open shelves.

With non slip matting for items, also some wedges under freestanding units, I think I have it all covered now for *drops*

Count all your blessings. the ones that cost you no money.

I'm so glad you are now snug and cosy and warm, my dear Nanny Ogg. There's nought like a bit of warm to cheer you up. And a real fire, with real flames is such a cheery sight, guaranteed to warm not only the body but the mind as well.

At the moment we are battling blocked drains, a minor flood and a burst water pipe up the street. City Care on the job but we have no water again. It never ends.

Good ideas there Lucky - thanks. We have flooding too FFaye - what a pain it is. Quite hazardous as it is slimy under those puddles. Today I bought a cast iron casserole for the log fire. You need to come for tea soon - email me to make a date eh?
