I am a little confused as to the strength of this Lebanon /Isreal war, as they have historically been known to rarely have any truce & many, many wars..
But to have any powers to be from the USA who have always 'interfered' I am more concerned. Also at their 'attitude'

I understand this is not just because they consider themselves the most powerful country and I know many Americans who hate the whole idea of wars as much as any. and do not support overseas interventions.

It is the history that concerns me, from pre Korea, Vietnam to Iraq Iran ...not usually without massive errors and mass genocide..as are all wars .. yes, we have alliances with the USA

I have never agreed to this power hand over..despite the promises of protection etc..blah blah

Mow our own lawn first..before we go out and take over someone else's turf is my motto

Yes, I speak as a member of the public, yes, I have heard the political views, comments and rah rah rah..I am not a pacifist, and would shoot between the eyes if I had to protect my young from a predator with intent..but these foreign religious based wars, with terrorist , territorial demands, should I perhaps say when, the 'western powers of this world again launches into the affray, yet again claiming to 'protect' one or other as always, what then...I often wonder who or what really is the AntiChrist?

Yes, Cyberchook..not any old PC...the President's desk!

I wish I could find the article in our local paper this morning. It is just the opening para written by a young Lebanese journalist (female)..and she puts it beautifully. I shall look again and when I find it...I shall 'quote' it here.

There is thought that the EC is the Beast....I cannot see that.

Whatever, I fear we are heading for the 'end days'. I read the Late Great Planet Earth a few months back. My mother and I both read it in the 80's shortly before she died. I have been watching the news with horror.

I hope I am wrong.

Iran had better beware if the USA all of a sudden pull all troops out of Iraq, this would surely be a warning of Israel about to blanket bomb Iran. The longer the USA stay in Iraq the safer Iran will be from Israel.

Quite frankly this is precisely what all of us, who protested the war in Iraq so passionately, saw coming and why we marched and tried so hard to get the world to see sense before it was too late - which sadly, it now is. There's no good guys and bad guys here, just bad guys on both sides and innocent civilians, that's all. The good guys will be whoever's left alive to claim victory and write the history books, if anyone is this time - because this is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better, if better is even possible in the end.

The most tragic thing of all is that even as we farewell our husbands and sons as they head off to fight a war that should never have happened, those that believe that Bush and co were right and justified will continue to believe that. Those who believe the other side is right and their actions justified will continue to do so. And those of us who saw all of this coming 5 years ago will still sit, weep and feel as powerless as we have all along.

In a nutshell, Wendy, perfectly. There is talk of a red button. Perhaps the red button isnt ON the President's desk. Maybe the red button IS the incumbent himself.

Well put Sylke, the worst part is, he's the button and he was pushed the day he was first voted in. It's just a delayed reaction.
