I'm just wondering if I'm overly fussy. My flatmate is 30ish, but she lives more like a teenage boy! When she first moved in she used to dump her things in the lounge, leave dirty dishes in the sink or in her room overnight and longer, kept her curtains drawn, windows and door shut all day and night, didnt change bedding unless I suggested/demanded it, left dirty clothes in room for weeks and didnt shower everyday. We've had several sessions of serious talks along with instructions on basic housekeeping and I've seen a marked improvement but I'm still not satisfied. She doesnt clean unless she sees me cleaning and cant do enough for me as long as I tell her what I want done each time.
I've asked her to move out after the holidays. The sad thing is, she is really lovely and adores my cat but I cant stand her 'mess'. I enjoy the extra cash but would rather go without it than be a continual grump. We're not equal, we're like mother/daughter, I enjoyed playing mummy at first but I'm tired of it after only 4 months. Mind you I lived alone for 16 years, then my cat came into my life and then a flatmate and I love the company! I dont think I'm fussy, set in my ways maybe but not inflexible, I dont think.
Maybe I'll get another flatmate but screen a bit better next time, dont really want to live alone any more. Any advice is appreciated.
